PTFE Lining - Pipes & Tanks

PTFE is the most sought-after fluoropolymer lining material, with alternatives like FEP, PFA, ECTFE, PVDF available, catering to diverse requirements.
PTFE lined pipes and tanks are the ultimate cost-effective solution for applications with severe conditions. They are perfect for moving or storing corrosive fluids thanks to PTFE's chemical inertness, resisting high pressures and temperatures up to 230°C, all while leveraging the structural strength of the pipe material.
The advantages of PTFE include extending the lifespan of pipes and minimizing the risk of catastrophic failures. These failures could lead to pipe damage, costly replacements, downtime, and serious OH&S issues from exposure to corrosive fluids like acids.
Metal pipes such as carbon steel or stainless steel naturally corrode over time when channeling aggressive substances such as acids. A PTFE lining is expertly designed to fit snugly inside, safeguarding the pipes from corrosion.

PTFE Lining Process

Fluoro Pacific tailors PTFE lined pipes to precise customer specifications. The manufacturing process involves heating a PTFE cylinder, extruding it, and inserting it into a pipe, with the PTFE tube typically having a larger diameter than the pipe. Being a thermoset plastic, it will shrink to fit tightly when tension is released, making an immovable bond. The PTFE is flared at the ends using heat and compression against the pipe flange, and metallic bolts secure the seal to extend pipe length or connect to other metal surfaces.
