One. Why do solid bricks deform?
(1) During production, hollow bricks may exhibit deformation. Common shapes of hollow brick deformation include: corner lifting, corner drooping, seagull wings, irregular deformation, and front-to-back deformation. The main causes of hollow brick deformation are as follows:
1、Excessive amount of plasticizing agent in the raw material.
2、The raw material particles are too fine, and the grading is not appropriate.
3、Insufficient curing time of the raw material, uneven moisture content.
4、During the forming process, the fabric or pressure is uneven.
5、The furnace temperature and pressure control system is not optimal, resulting in a significant temperature difference between the upper and lower sections.
6、The temperature difference between the upper and lower cooling bands is not properly adjusted.
7、The rollers and shafts inside the kiln are not perfectly round or smooth.
(ii) If the entire tiles are deformed after being laid, the common shapes are tile-like or arched, primarily due to moisture affecting the tiles:
1、Moisture in the air (such as during humid weather).
2、The floor surface is not completely dry. Concrete reinforcement beams are added.
3、In low-rise buildings with humid environments, no additional moisture-proofing measures have been taken.
4、The joint between the stone ground and the solid brick wall was not sealed.
5、Blisters (such as those caused by water pipe failure or water backflow from balconies).
Two. What to do about deformed solid bricks?
1. Generally, high-quality solid bricks will not deform. When selecting bricks, you can test them with a few drops of water. If the shape of the brick changes slightly, it indicates that the quality of this brick is not good and should be exchanged with the vendor.
2、Select tile adhesive appropriately based on the environment and tile type.，Prevent issues associated with cement-sand patching.，Proper construction methods are also essential.，Otherwise, even if a professional tile adhesive is selected.，The tiles may also deform.。
3. Under geothermal heating conditions, minimize the use of wet flooring.
4、When laying through-body bricks, it is necessary to leave gaps. In practice, gaps should be left for tiles, and the wall surface should be 1-2mm, while the gap for floor tiles should be at least 1.2-1.5mm, typically 2-5mm. For smaller-sized tiles, larger gaps may be required for aesthetic purposes.
