ASTM A179/A179M-90a (Reapproved 2001)Cold drawn seamless low-carbon steel heat exchanger and condenser steel pipes
Scope of application: 1. This standard is applicable to the thinnest seamless steel pipes used in tubular heat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat transfer devices;
2. This standard is applicable to steel pipes ranging from 3.2 to 76.2mm.
General requirements: Unless otherwise specified in this standard, it shall also comply with the applicable clauses of ASTM A450/A450M.
Surface quality: No oxide scale, other surface quality shall comply with ASTM A450/A450M regulations.

Note: It is not allowed to provide alloy grades that specifically require the addition of elements other than those mentioned above.
Heat treatment: After the final cold drawing, perform heat treatment at a temperature not lower than 650 ºC.
Hardness test: HRB ≤ 72, sampling requirement is to take any two steel pipes from each batch for Rockwell hardness test. The so-called batch refers to all steel pipes with the same nominal diameter and wall thickness produced from the same furnace without cutting. If it is a batch furnace, the batch only refers to steel pipes with the same furnace number, size, and heat treatment in the same furnace;
