Welding Introduction For HDPE:

1. Fix the proper clamps on the machine rack.

2. Put HDPE pipes on the clamps and tighten the bolts.

3. Mill the end of the HDPE pipes with the facer.

4. Put the heater plate on the machine rack and heat the pipes for proper time.

5. Remove the heater plate and connect the HDPE pipes.

P1: Approach and preheating pressure,
P2: Maximum heating pressure,
P5: Welding pressure,
Pt (Drag pressure): pressure necessary to overcome the friction of the machine. It must be measured by the operator 
with the pressure gauge of the hydraulic unit.

t1, t2, …, t5: duration of phases 1,2, …, 5.

1- Approach and Preheating Phase. Bring the edges to be welded closer with the thermal element at 
the pressure (P1+Pt) so that the edge reaches the dimension provided for by the standard used.

2- Heating Phase. Reduce the pressure to the maximum value P2, sufficient to maintain contact of the edges of the 
pipe with the thermal element, for the time t2

Note: The operator, by reducing the pressure, must be careful not to detach the edges from the thermal element. If 
this happens, the welding must be repeated.

3- Phase of Extraction of the thermal element. Remove the thermal element at the maximum time t3, without damaging the edges of the two elements to be welded.

4- Phase of reaching the welding pressure. Put the edges in contact, progressively increasing the pressure up to the value (P5+Pt), in time t4. Prevent the soft material from coming out of the surfaces that were approached.

5- Welding Phase. Keep the edges in contact under pressure (P5+Pt ) for time t5.

Do not use water or compressed air to accelerate the cooling of the fusion. If necessary, protect the weld from 
rain, wind or excessive solar radiation.
