I. Differences between full-body porcelain tiles and half-body porcelain tiles
1、Different rates of water absorption
- Porosity less than 0.5% indicates full ceramic;- Porosity greater than 10% indicates ceramic;- Porosity between these two values indicates semi-ceramic.
2、Different firing processes
The firing temperature for full ceramic tiles exceeds 1200°C, resulting in low water absorption, low expansion after heating, high firing hardness, resistance to breakage, excellent stain resistance, low water absorption, and good flatness.
Half-vitrified ceramic tiles fired at temperatures below 1200°C have a higher water absorption rate than full-vitrified ceramic tiles, resulting in higher expansion after heating. This leads to low hardness, fragility, penetration, and poor gloss after firing.
Two. Is full-glazed interior wall brick better than semi-glazed?

1、Appearance
Firstly, from an aesthetic perspective, porcelain tiles offer a superior gloss and a smoother surface compared to ceramic tiles. Therefore, if a superior decorative effect is desired, porcelain tiles are the clear choice.
2、Hardness
From a hardness perspective, porcelain tiles have a higher hardness compared to ceramic tiles, making them more resistant to impact and breakage. Ceramic tiles, on the other hand, have a significantly lower hardness and are more prone to breakage.
3、Application of putty powder
Porcelain tiles have low water absorption, making them relatively easy to install. However, ceramic-porcelain tiles have higher water absorption, requiring soaking of the substrate to maintain moisture before installation, which can be more time-consuming and complex.
4、Price
From a price perspective, porcelain tiles are slightly more expensive than half-porcelain tiles. If the renovation requirements are not particularly high, half-porcelain tiles are a more economical option.
Summary: The main differences between full-body porcelain tiles and half-body porcelain tiles lie in their lower water absorption rate, higher hardness, better gloss, and higher price for full-body porcelain tiles. When selecting, users can choose based on their specific needs.
III. How to distinguish between full-body ceramic and half-body ceramic wall tiles.
1、Weight
Porcelain interior wall bricks have a high density, making them very heavy. Half-porcelain interior wall bricks should be lighter.
2、Soaking
Ceramic wall tiles are porous and absorb water, resulting in bubbles. Full ceramic wall tiles are non-porous and can be laid directly. Ceramic wall tiles must be thoroughly soaked before installation. Unsoaked ceramic tiles will absorb moisture from the cement mortar, leading to tile detachment.
3、Sound
To lift a corner of the tile and tap the center with a finger, the resulting sound, which is deep and resonant, indicates full-bodied ceramic wall tiles. A muffled, short, and non-resonant sound indicates a low degree of vitrification, uneven particle size, and low density, which are characteristics of ordinary partially vitrified ceramic wall tiles.
