II. Installation Steps for Wood Veneer Tiles
1、Establish the plan
Due to the variety of wood tile layouts, it is essential to confirm the layout scheme with the designer/installer before installation to ensure proper application.
2、Leveling
Before installing wood-look tiles, the surface of the building should be prepared by removing any loose debris and ensuring a smooth, even surface.
3、Mixing
The cement and sand mixture should be mixed in a ratio of 1:2, using cement with a grade of 325. Using cement with a higher grade can create internal tensile stress in wood brick, which can lead to cracking.
4、Applying the putty
Before installation, soak the wood-plastic tiles in water for 15 minutes. (Use tap water or clean water only; do not use murky or dirty water, or water contaminated with oil). Remove the soaked wood-plastic tiles, and dry them thoroughly. Apply a uniform layer of cement mortar to the back of the wood-plastic tiles (mortar thickness should be 2-3 cm).
5、Application
Place the wood brick on the concrete and sand substrate. Gently tap the surface of the wood brick with a wooden mallet until the surface is level and the edges are aligned.
- Pay attention to the order of the wood grain and brick patterns when laying. Refer to the markings and arrows on the bottom of the bricks.- When hammering, avoid hitting empty spaces and apply even pressure. Avoid applying excessive or insufficient force.
