I.Mosaic tilesWhat is the required level of ground flatness?
Mosaic tiles require a level surface. According to relevant tile acceptance specifications, the surface levelness is typically measured using a 2-meter straightedge, with a deviation of less than ±0.2%, and no more than 2 mm. The height difference between adjacent tiles should not exceed 0.5 mm.

Before installing mosaic tiles, the substrate must be prepared. For smooth substrates, first roughen the surface with a wire brush, then saturate with water. For very smooth substrates, perform a "roughening treatment." This involves cleaning the surface of dust and debris, wetting it with water, and then applying a 1:1 cement-fine sand mortar using a sprayer or brush. Ensure even application, allow the mortar to set completely, and then saturate with water. The cement-fine sand mortar should reach a sufficient strength, to the point where it cannot be broken by hand. For brick wall substrates, pre-wet the surface the day before installation.
Two. Can mosaic tiles be directly applied to existing tiles?
Mosaic cannot be directly applied to tiles because it cannot guarantee the mosaic's adhesion after installation. It is recommended to install a base layer of concrete. Generally, tiles can be applied using cement, but it is recommended to use specialized tile adhesive and grout for mosaics. This is because mosaics have a high density and low water absorption rate, and the bonding effect of cement is not as good as that of grout. This makes it impossible to guarantee the mosaic's adhesion after installation.
once all wall surfaces are covered and the bonding agent has fully cured, and after the joint has been filled, perform a final inspection. Remove any loose particles remaining in the joints with a clean, damp, soft-bristled brush. For joints with a gap of more than 1mm, fill with 1:1 cement mortar, ensuring a smooth and even finish. Then, wipe clean with a cloth. once the bonding agent and the mortar have fully cured, clean the surface.
After mosaic tiling is complete, proper protection measures should be taken, and appropriate drying time should be allowed. The newly tiled surface should be protected from direct sunlight, and the interior should be adequately ventilated until approximately 24 hours before completion. Generally, the post-tiling maintenance for mosaic tiling should last for at least 7 days.
