Recently, DuPont has launched a variety of adhesive products to meet the different functional requirements of battery adhesives for electric vehicles.

Adhesives have replaced traditional welding processes in automobiles, contributing to lightweight design and optimized thermal management of power batteries for electric vehicles. They are primarily used to bond similar or dissimilar materials, providing functions such as bonding, heat conduction, sealing, or vibration damping.

Power battery adhesives can be divided into three main categories based on their functional requirements: structural adhesives, thermal conductivity adhesives, and sealing adhesives. based on their chemical composition, they can be further classified into four types: epoxy resin adhesives, polyurethane adhesives, silicone adhesives, and MS polymer adhesives.

DuPont offers a variety of adhesive products to meet different needs. For example:

DuPont™ BETAMATE™ epoxy structural adhesive features high strength, high elongation, and high-temperature resistance. It enables bonding between metal and non-metal materials, providing lower thermal and/or electrical conductivity, and enhancing the integrity of the assembly.

BETAFORCE® polyurethane thermal conductivity adhesive exhibits excellent elongation and fast curing speed, along with superior energy absorption capabilities under static and dynamic loads. It can bond various materials and maintain their properties even at low or ultra-low temperatures after bonding. This adhesive can be used to bond cells and modules, enabling the battery to operate at higher temperatures, thereby meeting the requirements for driving and fast charging, and enhancing the torsional rigidity and impact resistance of the battery and the entire vehicle.

BETASEAL™ polyurethane sealant is a crucial component for long-lasting sealing, enabling complete sealing between battery pack top and bottom covers. It can resist intrusion from liquids and gases, withstand impact, and is resistant to coolants, enhancing the durability of the seal.

BETATECH™ polyurethane thermal gap filling adhesive can conduct heat generated by the battery cells to external cooling components, while also meeting structural bonding requirements. It is specifically designed for bonding battery modules to cooling plates and maintains excellent viscosity and thermal conductivity over a wide temperature range.
