One, what is daily porcelain?

Everyday porcelain is a type of porcelain commonly used in daily life. The raw materials for producing everyday porcelain include porcelain stone, kaolin, quartz, and mullite, etc. After successful firing, the surface of everyday porcelain typically requires the application of a glass-like glaze or painting.

II. What are the different types of daily ceramic products?

1、Classification of ceramic materials

The main types of ceramic materials available in the market include common daily porcelain, bone china, delicate daily porcelain, daily fine porcelain, common ceramic, and fine ceramic cookware. Excluding bone china, the remaining products are classified into different grades based on the extent of appearance defects, such as first-class, qualified, and standard.

2、Decorative finishes can be categorized

According to the decorative style, the classification includes glazed color, glaze-in-the-middle color, glaze-under-the-glaze color, and colored porcelain, as well as some uncolored white porcelain.

Glazed ceramic art is created by applying ceramic pigments over a glazed surface, either as a paper-based decoration or directly onto the product, followed by firing at 700-850℃. Because the firing temperature does not reach the melting point of the glaze, the decorative layer cannot sink into the glaze and must remain closely adhered to the glaze surface. When touched, the product surface feels uneven, and a visual inspection reveals irregularities.

Glaze-on-color ceramic glaze firing temperature is higher than glaze-on-color, reaching the melting temperature of the ceramic glaze. Ceramic pigments settle into the glaze during the glaze melting process and are then covered by the glaze layer after cooling. When touched, the surface of the product feels smooth like glass and has no obvious irregularities.

Glaze-on-color ceramic is a traditional decorative method in China. All decorative elements are applied to the ceramic blank before glazing. After glazing, the entire product is fired at high temperature in a single firing. Similar to glaze-on-color ceramics, the decorative patterns are covered by the glaze, resulting in a smooth and even surface with no irregularities.

Glazed ceramic, on the other hand, incorporates a high-temperature coloring agent into the ceramic glaze, resulting in a specific color on the finished product after firing, such as yellow, purple, or greenish-blue.

White porcelain typically refers to unglazed ceramic products. These products generally have low sales volume in the market.

Three. Characteristics of daily ceramic

1、The daily porcelain glaze has a bright and fine surface, is easy to clean after staining, and is easy to wash and maintain.

2. This material exhibits properties that prevent cracking under rapid temperature changes (thermal shock) after exposure to certain temperature variations. This is an advantage over glass, as it is a poor heat conductor and transfers heat slowly. It is suitable for holding boiling water or hot food, and the resulting heat transfer is minimal.

3. The chemical properties of daily ceramic products are stable and durable, with good resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, and carbon dioxide corrosion in the atmosphere. They are also resistant to chemical reactions with these substances.

4、Ceramic products have very few pores and a low absorption rate. When using everyday ceramic products to store food, ensuring a tight seal prevents the evaporation, penetration, and contamination of external bacteria.

5. The colorful decorative painting on daily ceramic products is very popular.
