1. If the gaps are significant, the simplest solution is to apply a tube of adhesive directly into the gaps, allowing it to cure, and then gently scrape away the residue with a small knife. However, this repair method is not aesthetically pleasing, and the repair marks are very noticeable, significantly affecting the appearance. For projects with higher aesthetic requirements, a more complex solution is to use ceramic or metal repair agents.
2. When repairing with ceramic metal repair agent, thorough cleaning of the area to be repaired is essential. If possible, use a grinder to roughen the surface; the rougher the surface, the better the adhesion. After grinding, use a blowtorch to remove any remaining dust and then clean the surface with alcohol and a cloth to degrease it, which enhances adhesion. After degreasing, it is generally not recommended to touch the surface with bare hands or other objects.
II. Repairing Cracks in Ceramic Wash BasinsSteps:
1. Apply the prepared adhesive material to the surface to be repaired using appropriate tools. It is recommended to apply in thin layers for optimal bubble elimination. After application, allow the adhesive to cure for two hours. If multiple layers or a thicker application is used, the curing time can be extended accordingly. Note that it is best to avoid using ceramic basins for at least 24 hours after applying the adhesive to ensure complete curing. If the ambient temperature is high, the curing time can be slightly shortened.
2. After the adhesive has fully cured, we can gently tap the ceramic basin with a tool. If a clear and resonant sound is produced, it indicates that the curing process is satisfactory, and the basin repair is also quite successful. After repairing the basin, it is essential to completely remove any remaining residue inside the basin. Since the basin comes into direct contact with water and skin, any remaining adhesive can cause severe skin irritation. Therefore, it is crucial to thoroughly clean the basin with disinfectant and wash it at least five times before use.
3. If the ceramic sink only has minor scratches, we can add salt to vinegar and then use a cotton ball to gently rub the affected area. You will notice that the scratches will gradually fade until they disappear. If the scratches are very noticeable and cover a large area, this method will not be effective. In this case, we can use specialized marble adhesive to repair it. After repairing, use a grinder to smooth the surface, and then apply wax to polish it. This will effectively hide the repair marks.
