I.SealerIs it water-based or oil-based?
Both water-based and oil-based gap fillers have their own advantages.
Water-based joint sealant: Primarily composed of epoxy resin, with water molecules as the dispersing medium. It can be decomposed by water before hardening, and all added materials are natural, making it environmentally friendly and non-toxic.

Oil-based joint sealant: Primarily composed of epoxy resin, which forms a film on the surface, protecting the underlying materials from degradation. However, it contains a significant amount of chemical additives to stabilize its properties, which may have a slight environmental impact.
Two, what are the differences between oil-based and water-based joint fillers?
1、Depending on environmental considerations
Water-based joint filler: A natural material that dissolves in water, environmentally friendly and harmless, suitable for various spaces. The application does not produce odors and contains no harmful substances.
Oil-based joint fillers: Insoluble in water, containing various chemical materials. Due to the influence of the composition, they have lower environmental friendliness compared to water-based joint fillers and exhibit chemical-like, irritating odors.
2、Varying difficulty in cleaning
Water-based grout: If it accidentally gets on your hands, it can be washed off with water before it hardens. However, once it has hardened, it needs to be cleaned with alcohol, vinegar, or cleaning agents.
- Oil-based joint sealant: Regardless of whether the sealant has fully cured, alcohol and vinegar are required for cleaning. These cleaning agents are difficult to remove and can leave stains.
3、The construction environment presents variations.
Water-based joint sealant: The construction environment must be kept completely dry, with no moisture or water stains allowed. Otherwise, the joint sealant is likely to dry unevenly, bubble, or turn white.
Oil-based grout: Can be applied in environments where standing water is not visible, but can also be applied in slightly damp conditions. Long-term use in humid bathrooms is particularly suitable for oil-based grout.
