One. What is the lifespan of tile adhesive?
Mortar is a colloquial term; the standard term is tile-specific adhesive, which is a cement-based material and belongs to the category of inorganic materials. Under normal construction conditions, its lifespan is equivalent to that of the building, typically exceeding 50 years. It can be used with confidence; we recommend purchasing products from reputable brands.

II. Several "timing" requirements for tile adhesive
1、What is the shelf life of tile adhesive?
Mortar-based tile adhesives are significantly affected by the environment. In a cool and dry environment, the shelf life of unopened tile adhesive is 1 year. If the tile adhesive has hardened, it indicates that the active ingredients have started to react, and it should be discarded.
2、What is the recommended mixing time for tile adhesive?
Ceramic tile adhesive should be mixed using a low-speed mixer (500 r/min). Add the powder to water and mix for 3-5 minutes to form a homogeneous, non-clumpy slurry.
3、 After mixing the tile adhesive with water, how long should it be used before applying?
Generally, we recommend mixing the putty powder with water for 3-5 minutes, allowing it to rest for about 5 minutes, and then mixing it again before use.
Here, the curing process serves two purposes: firstly, it eliminates air introduced during mixing; secondly, it allows the tile adhesive to fully cure, which maximizes its bonding strength.
4、What is the maximum time allowed after mixing tile adhesive before use?
Mortar adhesive has an approximate working time of 3 hours under standard conditions (20°C, 50% humidity). The actual working time depends on weather conditions, and generally, in hot and windy weather, the working time will be shorter. For example, in summer, in southern regions, the working time of mortar adhesive indoors will be reduced. Mixed mortar adhesive should be used within 1 hour after mixing.
5、After applying tile adhesive, how long can the tiles be adjusted out of alignment without affecting the bond strength?
The time window within which adjustments can be made to tile placement without affecting adhesion strength is typically less than 30 minutes. Exceeding this adjustment window can negatively impact the performance of the tile adhesive.
6. How long does it take for the tile adhesive to dry and harden after applying the tiles?
This refers to the time it takes for the tile adhesive to solidify and harden after application. Typically, tile adhesive requires 24 hours to fully cure. In cold and humid environments, the hydration reaction of cement-based products will slow down. To better retain moisture, tile adhesive contains a moisture-retaining agent, which results in a longer curing time. Therefore, during winter construction, it is essential to protect the finished product.
7、After surface preparation of the substrate, how long should one wait before laying tiles?
once the concrete surface is complete, it needs to be maintained for 6 weeks before tiling can be installed. Newly applied mortar should be maintained for at least 7 days before tiling. Old concrete and mortar surfaces can be cleaned with industrial cleaning agents or degreasers, then rinsed thoroughly with a high-pressure water source. After 24 hours of drying, tiling can be installed.
