2、Different appearance
once putty powder is applied to the wall, if the wall is not subsequently sanded, it will typically exhibit an uneven surface or visible trowel marks, which are aesthetically unappealing. However, if the wall is sanded after application, it becomes very smooth and flat. However, sanding can also cause the putty powder to detach from the surface, leaving a powdery residue that can be easily felt.After applying latex paint to the wall, the surface becomes very smooth. Even when touched, there is no peeling or detachment.
3、Different durability
The durability of the putty is poor; it tends to powder when exposed to water and is difficult to clean. In contrast, the main advantage of latex paint is its excellent resistance to dirt, abrasion, and washing. This is because the surface of latex paint forms a protective film, and any stains can be easily removed by simply wiping the surface with a damp cloth.
4、Different construction processes
When performing wall construction, after the wall substrate is properly prepared, apply 2 to 3 coats of putty powder on the wall. After the putty powder is completely dry, the wall surface should be sanded. After sanding the wall, latex paint can be applied.
2. Which has higher formaldehyde content, putty powder or latex paint?
Generally, latex paints have a higher formaldehyde content.
Because putty powder is primarily composed of gypsum, a natural material, but this does not mean that formaldehyde is not present in the putty applied to walls. The formaldehyde content is simply lower than that of latex paint.
The formaldehyde content in putty applied to walls primarily originates from the additives and interface treatment agent used in the putty powder and interface treatment agent, as both materials contain formaldehyde.
Latex paint inherently contains formaldehyde due to the addition of formaldehyde by manufacturers during the production process to extend the lifespan of the paint.
