Can stone glue be used to adhere tiles?

1、Stone adhesive can be used to bond tiles. The stone adhesive has strong bonding strength and does not exhibit air bubbles, peeling, or weeping. It is primarily designed for bonding heavier stone materials, and therefore can also be used for bonding tiles.

2、Although stone adhesive can be used to adhere tiles, its primary application is in the stone field, and it is not suitable for adhering tiles. Tile adhesion is generally easier with tile adhesive. Stone adhesive cannot maintain a long-term bond, making it unsuitable for tile adhesion.

Differences between stone mortar and tile adhesive

1、Product Composition

The base material for stone adhesives is unsaturated resin, a viscous paste-like adhesive formulated with various high-molecular synthetic materials, such as epoxy resins, as the base material.

Ceramic tile adhesive is a polymer-modified cement-based ceramic tile adhesive, which is divided into several types, including 1st type (general-purpose), 2nd type (enhanced), and 3rd type (for large-sized tiles or marble).

2、Performance characteristics

The excellent performance of stone adhesives is mainly reflected in their hardness, toughness, rapid curing, polishing properties, weather resistance, and corrosion resistance.

High adhesion, no need for wet brick and wall during construction, good flexibility, waterproofing, anti-permeation, anti-cracking, anti-aging properties, high temperature and low temperature resistance, non-toxic and environmentally friendly, easy construction.

3、Adhesion characteristics

Stone adhesive, when mixed with a hardener, forms a two-component adhesive. Its key features include rapid gel formation, short curing time, high bonding strength, and the ability to cure at low temperatures (–10°C). At room temperature, with adjusted formulations, it can gel within seconds and fully cure within approximately 5 minutes.

Mortar mixed with water according to the ratio of 1:0.25-0.3. Mix thoroughly before application. Within the specified working time, adjustments to the tile positions can be made.
