How to repair and recolor stone?
1、 Commonly selected: Stone bonding agent+ Color matching agent
based on the principle of subtractive color mixing, first mix "stone adhesive + stone adhesive" to obtain a base color similar to stone; then add the corresponding color paste to further refine the color to the desired shade. This is a more common color mixing method, with the advantage of simple operation.
However, we do not recommend this coloring method, and the reasons are as follows: Coloring paste is a synthetic pigment with very pure colors. However, the issue is that natural stone is a natural material, and its color is not as pure. Therefore, the highly pure coloring paste results in a new color difference when mixed with the stone, compared to the natural stone's color.
2、Better option: Stone adhesive+ Natural color pigments
Therefore, it is recommended to use natural pigments as coloring materials. Natural pigments are natural materials extracted from minerals, which can more closely match the natural color of stone. For example, when coloring stone adhesives, you can add a suitable amount of ochre.

Factors affecting the color adjustment of stone adhesives
1、The main component of stone adhesive, resin, cannot react with crystalline materials to form a crystalline layer, resulting in a matte finish. To achieve a high-gloss finish with stone adhesive, physical grinding and polishing with a higher grit are required.

If stone materials are installed and then covered with protective films and layers shortly after, the moisture between the stone and the substrate cannot evaporate, resulting in moisture accumulation on the stone surface. This can temporarily intensify the color saturation of the stone surface. once the moisture evaporates, the stone will return to its original color. This can lead to misjudgments about the stone's color, resulting in the application of a darker color.
3. Many stone materials are pre-treated with coloring or protective agents upon leaving the factory. When the stone surface is abraded to reveal the original color, this can lead to misjudgment of the adhesive color during construction, resulting in significant color deviations.
4、The impact of color pigments on color: Color pigments come in various forms, including water-based, oil-based, and powder types. Using the wrong type of pigment can lead to incompatibility with stone adhesives, resulting in poor color retention, color variations, and poor covering properties.
5、Adding a certain proportion of transparent adhesive and flowable adhesive to the stone adhesive can increase the brightness of the adhesive after polishing, but it will also affect the various parameters of the stone adhesive, such as hardness, to some extent.
