Gaps between stone and stone, if not properly treated, are likely to create a black line between the stones. The steel frame for the building's main structure and the main building should be separated at the junction. Stone hanging steel frames should be in a separated state. If the building has a deformation joint, and the stones are misaligned due to this, the stone adhesive will be affected, resulting in cracks.
Methods for repairing cracks in stone adhesives
1. Remove dirt and debris.
First, thoroughly clean the debris and contaminants within the cracks. Then, use a vacuum cleaner to remove all dust and debris from the cracks. Finally, use crack repair adhesive to repair the cracks.
2、Damage Repair
First, use stone adhesive that matches the color of the existing stone to fill in any damaged areas on the stone surface. Then, use a specialized stone jointing machine to precisely cut and re-create the original stone joints, ensuring that the gaps are approximately the same width. Finally, use stone adhesive that matches the color of the stone to fill in the gaps. (Note: If the joints have already been treated, no further cutting is necessary.)
3、Smooth the cut edges
Use a granite renovation machine with specialized cutting and grinding discs to meticulously refine the cut edges, creating a seamless, flush connection with the stone.
4、Polishing
Use a dedicated granite polishing machine to grind the granite from coarse to fine using diamond abrasive pads ranging from 50 to 3000 grit, resulting in a polished and smooth surface that is like new.
5、Crystallization
Utilizing crystalline powder and crystallization agents in conjunction with a stone polishing machine, this process involves abrasive grinding under high pressure, allowing the stone and crystalline powder to undergo a comprehensive physical and chemical reaction at high temperatures, forming a dense, hard crystalline protective layer. After crystallization, this enhances color and brightness while also providing anti-slip, water-proof, and oil-proof properties.
Stone adhesive cracking repair precautions
1. Before commencing work, it is essential to thoroughly inspect the substrate conditions.
2. The application temperature should be between 5°C and 40°C.
3. During summer construction, if the substrate temperature is too high (≥40℃), it should be wetted with water first to prevent the stone adhesive from drying out too quickly, which could affect the construction quality.
4. It is strictly prohibited to mix and use already hardened adhesive after adding water.
5、After construction, the surface of the panel can be cleaned with a damp cloth approximately 1-2 hours later.
6. If the work is carried out on the ground, it is not permitted to step on the surface until 24 hours after completion of the work.
