Steps for waxing red wood furniture
1、The initial preparation work for applying wax to red wood furniture involves applying the wax evenly. This can be achieved by using a brush to apply the wax, with common brush types including bristle brushes. This step lays the foundation for the waxing process, similar to laying the foundation for a house. The quality of this initial layer is crucial for the overall protection of the furniture.
2. After applying the wax evenly to the furniture surface, heat the furniture surface to the appropriate temperature to ensure the wax spreads evenly. During this process, a heat gun should be used, but the temperature should not be too high.
3. Waxing. In this process, the temperature should be kept low, and the amount of wax should also be controlled. During heating, the wax should be melted and gradually penetrate the material of the furniture.
4. Polishing. This process requires the use of traditional tools made of horn, commonly known as a wax scraper. In this step, all traces of wax should be removed from the surface of the rosewood furniture. Uneven areas can also be cleaned with sandpaper. 5. Remove wax. When removing wax, use a small, coarse cloth or 100% cotton cloth, and rub in the direction of the furniture's grain, with appropriate pressure. 6. Remove wax with a brush, typically using a stiff, 7-8 cm wide, 12-15 cm long, and black hog bristle brush. This process cleans the surface of the mahogany furniture. This is the final step, and if done correctly, it will enhance the surface shine. Remember, after applying wax to furniture, avoid applying heat or using boiling water.
