One、Differences between plywood and particleboard

The difference between plywood and particleboard lies in the fact that plywood typically refers to multi-layer boards, which are made by bonding two or more layers of veneer together with adhesive under high temperature and pressure. Particleboard, on the other hand, specifically refers to boards made of thin veneer layers with a thicker solid wood core, also bonded together with adhesive under high temperature and pressure.

Are plywood and particleboard the same?

Different.

Plywood is a type of engineered wood product manufactured by bonding together thin wood veneers, typically with a core of solid wood or a honeycomb structure, and then applying multiple layers of adhesive under pressure.

The surface of the plywood should be smooth, free from warping, distortion, blistering, and depressions; the battens should be arranged evenly and neatly, with small gaps, and free from rot, breakage, insect holes, and knots. Some plywood is made with substandard materials, resulting in large gaps between the battens. If nails are driven into these gaps, they will not hold securely.

Plywood is a composite material made of three or more layers of wood, which are either cut from individual planks or sliced from wood blocks, and then bonded together with an adhesive. Typically, plywood consists of an odd number of layers of individual planks, with the fibers of adjacent layers oriented perpendicularly to each other.

Plywood is manufactured by hot pressing three or more layers of solid wood veneers or thin veneers with a thickness of approximately one millimeter, commonly including three-ply, five-ply, nine-ply, and twelve-ply plywood. It has good structural strength and stability. Due to the high content of adhesive in plywood, proper edge sealing should be performed during construction to minimize contamination.
