One, how to identify good and bad particleboard

1. The high-quality plywood has smooth, even surfaces with no defects or warping, and both sides are sanded. The product should have complete labeling.

2. Ensure uniform thickness of the side panels, and that the thickness matches the specified value. The gaps between the panels should be small, without hollow spaces, detachment, delamination, or patching with putty.

3. Pat the surface of the board with your hand. If it feels cool, it indicates a high moisture content, which is undesirable and can affect the finishing results. Similarly, wood boards that are too dry are also not suitable; a moisture content of 8%-13% is generally preferred.

4. To determine the quality of the core material of the intermediate panel, tap each part of the plywood and listen for any differences or hollow sounds. High-quality core material should have a consistent and clear sound.

5. When purchasing plywood, lift one end of the board. If there is no "creaking" sound, it indicates that the board's core bonding strength is good and there is no delamination. Otherwise, the bonding strength is poor. High-quality plywood has a solid, substantial feel when lifted.

6. By sniffing the edges of the wood panels, check for any noticeable formaldehyde odor. If no odor is detected, this indicates that the wood panel is relatively environmentally friendly. If a noticeable odor is present, it indicates a high formaldehyde release, so purchase with caution.

Two. Methods for selecting particleboard

1、Due to cost constraints, avoid purchasing plywood priced below 80 Yuan.

2. The quality grades of plywood are classified as First-Class, Second-Class, and Qualified. Before leaving the factory, each sheet of plywood should have a non-fading ink marking on the lower right corner, indicating the product category, grade, manufacturer code, and inspector code. The category marking should clearly indicate whether it is for indoor or outdoor use. Consumers should pay attention if this information is missing or unclear.

3. Verify that the core arrangement is uniform and neat, with minimal gaps. The width of the core should not exceed 2.5 times its thickness, otherwise it may deform easily.

4. After cutting through the board from the side, observe the wood quality of the core and ensure it is uniform and intact, with no signs of rot, cracks, or insect damage. Also, check if the gaps between the solid wood strips are excessive.
