One. What is the purpose of stone?

Stone is a high-end building decorative material widely used in interior and exterior decoration design, curtain wall decoration, and public facility construction. It is an important raw material for building, decoration, road, and bridge construction.

II. Introduction to Stone Classification and Applications

1、Natural Stone

① Natural granite

Granite has a hard texture, fine structure, and relatively high compressive strength, exhibiting good abrasion resistance, pressure resistance, and fire resistance. It can be used as a building material and is widely used for interior decoration in halls and floors, outdoor sculptures, facades, and high-end venues.

② Natural Marble

Natural marble is a metamorphic rock formed by the alteration of original rocks in the Earth's crust under high temperature and pressure conditions. It belongs to medium-hard stone and is mainly composed of calcite, limestone, serpentine, and dolomite. Its main component is calcium carbonate, accounting for approximately 50% or more. Natural marble has high compressive strength, soft texture, and low water absorption, making it suitable for interior decoration.

③ Sandstone

Sandstone is a sedimentary rock composed primarily of sand grains and binder. Sandstone has a high grain size and a wavy texture, with a relatively soft and fine feel. Its color is similar to sand, and it is commonly used for interior wall decoration and cultural background wall decoration. Some varieties can also be used for exterior facade decoration.

④ Slate

Slate is a rock with a plate-like structure and minimal recrystallization. The color of slate varies depending on the impurities it contains; slate containing iron is red or yellow, while slate containing carbon is black or gray. Slate has excellent weather resistance and resistance to pollution, making it suitable for beautification projects on various interior and exterior walls and floors.

In addition to natural granite, natural marble, sandstone, and slate, other commonly used natural stones include natural jade, natural volcanic rock, and natural limestone.

2、Artificial Stone

Artificial stone (also known as "artificial marble") is a new composite material made by mixing unsaturated resin, fillers, pigments, and a small amount of initiator, followed by a specific processing procedure. Common types of artificial stone available on the market include microcrystalline stone, acrylic stone, and ground stone. Artificial stone is also widely used for interior and exterior wall and floor decoration.
