One. What are the causes of wallpaper discoloration?
1、The selected adhesive product is substandard.
Adhesive products are typically alkaline or weakly alkaline and weakly acidic. Substandard products exhibit greater corrosiveness towards wallpaper, and can also cause discoloration of special inks, thereby shortening their service life and causing them to yellow and discolor.
2、Excessive moisture content in the wall
After the base membrane application, water continuously penetrates the wall, and during the drying process, the continuous water penetration causes the base membrane to form many capillary pores, leading to discoloration of the wallpaper.
3. High alkalinity in the wall surface due to poor treatment of the substrate.

If the film or varnish is applied too thinly or unevenly, it cannot form a protective layer on the wall surface, preventing the outward leakage of alkaline substances from the wall. This can corrode the wall covering, causing discoloration.
4、Problems related to wall materials
The wall treatment material has not fully dried and cannot form a tight protective layer. When applied, it is susceptible to penetration from the pressing force and moisture.
5、Improper construction methods
During construction, excessive pressure with a hard scraper damaged the waterproof protective layer on the wall fabric, leading to detachment and discoloration.
6、Liquid leakage
The liquid has overflowed and been wiped excessively.
Two. How to deal with wallpaper discoloration
If the discoloration is not severe, whether it is yellowing or darkening, it can be cleaned with a neutral detergent to see if the discoloration can be reversed.
If the discoloration is severe, please remove and reapply.
Additionally, if the severity cannot be determined, please consult a professional for inspection and cleaning.
