One、Reasons for wooden doors turning white
1、Excessive moisture
Excess moisture is the primary cause of the white appearance of wood door paints. High moisture content in the wood panels, after a period of use, will gradually evaporate, and the moisture accumulated in the paint film will cause the wood door to appear white.
2、The paint's saturation level is insufficient.
Applying paint to solid wood doors can also lead to discoloration, especially with dark-colored wood such as black walnut or red oak. If a paint with poor transparency is used, the wood will appear significantly lighter.

3、Lacking a curing agent.
Using a sealant that is not compatible with solid wood doors can cause them to turn white. This is because the incompatible sealant and paint react with the solid wood, resulting in a white film on the surface of the door.
II. Repairing Whitening of Solid Wood Doors
If dark-colored solid wood doors become discolored, the only solution is to have a professional contractor remove the existing paint and re-coat the door with paint. Let's take a look at the construction method!
Step 1: First, remove any decorative elements from the solid wood door to ensure even paint application.
Step 2: Use sandpaper to sand the solid wood door. Pay close attention to corners and edges to avoid excessive sanding, while maintaining the original shape of the solid wood door. Then, wipe away any remaining dust from the door and thoroughly clean it with a damp cloth.
Step 3: Apply the paint using a brush, ensuring a thorough coat on the solid wood door surface. Brush from top to bottom and left to right, paying close attention to corners and concealed areas.
Step 4: Allow the painted solid wood doors to dry for four to five hours after painting.
Step 5: After the paint dries, sand the entire surface thoroughly with sandpaper to even out any uneven areas. This prepares the surface for a subsequent coat of paint.
Step six: Apply a second coat of paint, but if the paint is too thick, add an appropriate amount of rubber water to dilute it before applying, then allow it to dry completely.
Step 7: Finally, install the door handles and other accessories for the solid wood door.
