One, are PVC doors and windows made of metal materials?
PVC doors and windows are not made of metal.
The frames of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) door and window systems are primarily made from PVC resin, along with stabilizers, pigments, fillers, and UV absorbers in specific proportions. These materials are then extruded into profiles, which are subsequently cut, welded, or screwed together to form door and window frames. These frames are then fitted with seals, weather stripping, and hardware. Additionally, to enhance the rigidity of the profiles, steel reinforcement (reinforcing bars) are added to the cavities of profiles exceeding a certain length. Door and window systems manufactured in this way are referred to as PVC door and window systems.
II. How to identify the quality of PVC doors and windows

1、Assess the strength.
PVC doors and windows typically have welded joints at the corners. National standards require an average corner strength of 3000N or more. To ensure this, it is essential to use proper welding equipment, and small repair shops along the roadside generally cannot guarantee this. In addition, the connecting components and fasteners must be securely fastened. Since the main material of PVC windows is PVC, with a typical section thickness of approximately 2.3mm, the strength may be insufficient. Therefore, steel reinforcements are often added internally. When purchasing, it is important to check whether the manufacturer is engaging in substandard workmanship or reducing the amount of material.
2、Check for levelness
The weld joints of steel doors and windows should not be misaligned in height and the joints between two windows should not have uneven heights. This primarily refers to the visual appearance, which is a crucial aspect for aesthetic appeal. This requirement is also specified in national standards, such as: the difference in height between weld joints should be within 0.3mm. While understanding the relevant national standards is beneficial, you can also specify that the appearance should match that of the reference windows, which are typically of good quality.
3、Check if the dimensions are accurate.
Inaccurate dimensions of plastic steel doors and windows can often affect their opening and sealing performance. Therefore, when selecting plastic steel doors and windows, it is important to ensure their dimensions are accurate.
4、Check for sealing performance
In addition to dimensions, the quality of accessories also affects the sealing performance of PVC doors and windows. For example, if substandard rubber strips are used by some manufacturers, the result is that they begin to shrink within a few months, causing a large gap between the glass and the frame, making it easy for rain and air to enter the room.
