One, are fire-resistant windows and fireproof windows the same thing?
Fire-resistant windows and fireproof windows are not the same thing.
Fire-resistant windows are windows that, within a specified time, meet the fire resistance stability and integrity requirements, and must comply with the standard "Fire-Resistant Windows" (GB16809-2008). Fire-resistant windows, on the other hand, are windows applied to the exterior walls of buildings that meet certain fire resistance integrity requirements, and must comply with the "Building Design Fire Prevention Code" (GB50016-2014).
II. Differences between fire-resistant windows and fireproof windows

1、Different frame materials for window frames.
Fire-resistant windows often use stainless steel for the window frame, which offers high melting points and good fire resistance.
Fire-resistant windows typically use aluminum alloy or steel frames, which have low melting points and poor fire resistance.
2、Different internal glass
The glass for fire-resistant windows is fire-resistant glass, and A-grade insulating glass can be selected.
The glass used in fire-resistant windows does not require such high standards; non-fire-resistant glass can be used.
3. Different application areas
Fire-resistant windows are primarily used in residential buildings or office buildings for evacuation rooms, kitchens, or bedrooms.
Fire-resistant windows are typically installed between openings created in firewalls and between fire-rated compartments.
4、Different properties
Fire-resistant windows are primarily used to achieve fireproof and flame-retardant purposes. However, it is important to note that fire-resistant windows with insulation features may develop bubbles and become cloudy if they are exposed to prolonged direct sunlight.
While fire-resistant windows do not exhibit the above issues when exposed to prolonged direct sunlight, they do not meet the requirements for fire-resistant windows and can only achieve the sealing and aesthetic effects required for everyday use.
5、Different fire resistance limits
Fire-resistant windows typically have a fire resistance limit of approximately 1 to 5 hours, depending on the type of fire-resistant glass.
Fire-resistant windows typically have a fire resistance rating of only 1 hour. Although the fire resistance rating of fire-resistant windows is significantly higher, even with advancements in manufacturing processes, it still falls far short of that of fire-resistant windows.
