1、Ground-track sliding doors offer better stability compared to overhead sliding doors. Overhead sliding doors, which do not have tracks on the ground, use a locator on each door leaf to secure it to the ground. Because the locator is a single point and only installed on one side of the door leaf, the door leaves may exhibit some slight swaying when closed, resulting in reduced stability.
2. Ground-track sliding doors offer better sealing performance compared to overhead sliding doors. Overhead sliding doors, due to the absence of tracks on the ground, create a gap of approximately one centimeter between the door leaf and the ground, resulting in poorer sealing. Ground-track sliding doors, on the other hand, achieve near-complete sealing when closed.
3. Sliding doors with ground tracks are more durable than sliding doors with overhead tracks. Overhead sliding doors rely entirely on the track and wheels for support, which places high demands on the quality of both. Consequently, overhead sliding doors are more prone to issues compared to ground track sliding doors.
4、Sliding doors require specific wall conditions. Since sliding doors are subjected to forces on the upper rail, and the upper rail is fixed to the wall, it is best to install sliding doors on solid walls.
Which is better: the upper rail or the lower rail for sliding doors?
Under-rail sliding doors are also known as ground-rail sliding doors, while over-rail sliding doors are known as overhead-rail sliding doors.
Currently, the low-profile tracks for sliding doors on the market are difficult to step on, and the grooves on the floor are also gone, making it difficult to trap dirt.
