5. The deadbolt has been installed. Standard household door locks typically come with three keys. After installation, it is necessary to inspect the lock by: - Rotating the keys to ensure smooth operation. - Checking if the locking mechanism moves freely. - Gently shaking the handle to ensure it does not loosen. - Ensuring that the handle cover completely covers the lock hole; otherwise, it is not a qualified product. - The locking tongue cover should be placed within the slot and kept level with the door.

Remove the screws securing the locking mechanism, detach the mechanism. Some mechanisms are very tight and cannot be removed by hand; in this case, use a hammer to gently tap the locking mechanism from the left or right. Then, install the purchased locking mechanism. Note that the two screws securing the locking mechanism should not be tightened excessively, as this will make the handle too tight and difficult to operate. Before installing the handle, install the security latch.
When installing interior and exterior handles, it's best to have someone hold the exterior handle while you secure the interior handle, ensuring proper alignment. Adjust the interior and exterior handles, ensuring that the screw holes align with the corresponding nuts. Use a flashlight to illuminate and inspect the area, then rotate the screws. Insert the screws vertically and horizontally, aligning them with the interior nuts. You can gently rock the screws back and forth by hand to ensure proper alignment; those who use a screwdriver can feel if the screws are aligned. Secure the panel and tighten the screws, but avoid over-tightening, as this can make the handle difficult to operate.
After installation, conduct a thorough inspection and make necessary adjustments. This can also prevent damage to the lock mechanism. First, test the ease of rotation of the door handle. If it is too tight, loosen the screws. Then, test the lock mechanism by inserting the key and rotating it 360°. If the locking pin smoothly comes out, the mechanism is functioning correctly. If it does not, disassemble and reinstall the lock mechanism.
