Shell powder does not require adhesive to be applied to the wall because:
1、The raw material for seashell powder is calcium carbonate, which possesses inherent stickiness. Similar to ready-mixed putty paste, it is an alkaline substance and can be applied directly to the substrate for painting.
2、The porous double-helix structure of seashell powder provides a bonding effect. Compared to diatomaceous earth, seashell powder itself possesses inherent bonding properties due to its porous structure. Even without any other materials, it exhibits sufficient adhesion.
3、The polysaccharides added to the seashell powder coating contain natural cotton fibers, which have adhesive properties. The seashell powder does not contain glue, but a hardener is added, which is theoretically starch. High-quality seashell powder coatings typically use nano-sized and pre-gelatinized starch, which is more expensive and requires precise formulation.
Note: Inferior seashell powder may directly use chemical-based putty paste. It is important to carefully distinguish between the two.
