One. Are the fire-resistant coatings water-based or oil-based?

Fire-resistant coatings are available in both water-based and oil-based formulations. However, due to increasing demands for safety, health, and environmental protection, most fire-resistant coatings currently available on the market are more environmentally friendly water-based formulations.

Two. How to distinguish between water-based and oil-based fire-resistant coatings.

1、Different functions/effects

Water-based fire-resistant coatings: Typically refer to fire-resistant coatings that use water as a diluent, consisting of emulsions, various flame retardants, fire-resistant materials, fillers, and various additives. These coatings are environmentally friendly, have moderate prices, and are widely used in the market.

Oil-based fire-resistant coatings: Typically refer to fire-resistant coatings that use solvents as diluents, composed of organic resins, various flame retardants, titanium dioxide, fillers, diluents, and multifunctional additives. These coatings have good adhesion strength, good water resistance, and relatively stable fire resistance. Disadvantages: The presence of organic solvents pollutes the environment and contains harmful substances such as xylene and benzene, which pose risks to human health.

2、Different common types

Water-based fire-resistant coatings: Thin-profile steel structure fire-resistant coatings (NB) for interior use, thin-profile steel structure fire-resistant coatings (WB) for exterior use, thick-profile steel structure fire-resistant coatings (NH) for interior use, thick-profile steel structure fire-resistant coatings (WH) for exterior use, and tunnel fire-resistant coatings (SH).

Oil-based fire-resistant coatings: Commonly referred to as coatings with a strong odor, common types include: Interior ultra-thin steel structure fire-resistant coatings (NCB) and Exterior ultra-thin steel structure fire-resistant coatings (WCB).
