One、What is anti-corrosion coating?
Anti-corrosion coatings are an essential type of coating used in paints. They are generally categorized into standard anti-corrosion coatings and heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings. Standard anti-corrosion coatings provide corrosion protection for metals under normal conditions, extending the lifespan of colored metals. Heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings, on the other hand, are designed for use in more aggressive corrosive environments and offer longer protection periods compared to standard anti-corrosion coatings.
Two. What are the uses of anti-corrosion coatings?
1、Improve the inherent properties of metal (alloy treatment)
Many foreign scholars have conducted various studies on the impact of alloy elements on the corrosion resistance of steel. They have found that steel alloys based on Cr, Ni, Cu, P, Si, and rare earths exhibit excellent corrosion resistance, and have subsequently developed a series of corrosion-resistant steel products. However, due to economic and process considerations, the above elements are not used in large quantities in corrosion-resistant steel.
2. Forming a protective layer (applying a protective coating for non-metallic or metal surfaces)
Metal protective layers primarily involve phosphating, oxidation, and passivation treatments of coated metals. Non-metal protective layers involve applying coatings such as paints, plastics, enamel, and mineral-based greases to the metal surface to form a protective layer. The purpose of both types of protective layers is to isolate the substrate from contact with seawater and prevent reaction between the substrate and seawater, thereby providing protection.
III. Applications of Anti-Corrosive Coatings
1、Emerging marine engineering: offshore structures, coastal and harbor constructions, offshore oil drilling platforms;
2、Modern transportation: highway barriers, bridges, vessels, containers, trains and railway infrastructure, automobiles, and airport facilities.
3、Energy Industry: Waterworks equipment, water tanks, gas tanks, oil refining equipment, oil storage equipment (pipelines, oil tanks), power transmission and distribution equipment, nuclear power plants, and coal mines.
4、Large-scale industrial enterprises: Paper-making equipment, pharmaceutical equipment, food and chemical equipment, inner and outer walls of metal containers, chemical, steel, and petrochemical plants' pipelines, tanks, mining and smelting plants, cement plant equipment, surfaces and walls exposed to corrosive media, and cement components.
5、Municipal facilities: Gas pipelines and related equipment (such as gas cabinets), natural gas pipelines, water supply facilities, and waste disposal equipment, etc.
