Fireproof board installation steps

1、Pre-construction preparation

Before installing the fireproof board, it is necessary to prepare the installation materials, adhesive, cutting tools, and ensure that the fireproof board is placed on a dry surface. Additionally, it is recommended to place a protective layer, such as paper or a film, beneath the fireproof board to prevent direct contact with the ground and potential damage to the board's surface. It is also advisable to use carbon steel cutting tools to ensure clean cuts.

2、Cutting timber

Secondly, cutting tools should be used to cut the fireproof boards into suitable sizes according to the construction requirements. It is also necessary to pre-drill six millimeters of length on each side, which is for easy trimming later. When cutting the fireproof boards, it should start from the back of the board to prevent gaps from appearing on the cut edges.

3. Apply edge strips to vertical surfaces.

Next, apply adhesive to the back of the edge trim and along the edges of the substrate, allowing it to sit for approximately 5 to 10 minutes. once the adhesive is no longer tacky, attach the edge trim to the vertical surface of the substrate. Then, use a roller to apply pressure along the vertical surface of the substrate. Finally, remove any excess adhesive.

4、Apply and seal the edge trim along the horizontal surface.

First, apply adhesive to both the substrate surface and the back of the fire-resistant board. once the adhesive is no longer tacky, attach the fire-resistant board to the substrate surface. If the area of the fire-resistant board to be attached is large, first place wooden strips intermittently on the substrate, and then attach the fire-resistant board to the substrate surface. After the fire-resistant board is aligned, remove the wooden strips and firmly press the fire-resistant board onto the substrate surface.

5、Apply pressure to remove air

When pressing fireproof boards onto the substrate, it is crucial to remove any air pockets and apply even pressure using a roller. This ensures that the adhesive is evenly distributed, preventing residual air from affecting the installation and ensuring a successful bond.

6、Trim and clean the edges.

Use a trim machine to cut off excess edges from the fireproof board, then use a file to smooth out the joints further. When using the file, it is best to file downwards; it is absolutely not recommended to file back and forth, as this can easily lead to uneven and rough edges. Finally, use a cloth dampened with solvent to wipe away any spilled adhesive.
