One, are particle boards prone to insect infestation?
Improperly treated wooden boards are prone to insect infestation.
Wood panels typically use wood chips and have large gaps. Although this reduces the risk of insect infestation during manufacturing, the panels can still be susceptible to small insects like wood borers if they are transported or stored improperly. once these wood chips are laid on the floor, the eggs laid by these insects can hatch and develop into insects under certain conditions.

Additionally, some insecticides are made by grinding rice flour or corn kernels into a powder and mixing it with insecticide solution. once the insecticide's effectiveness has dissipated, these powders become a food source for small beetles.
Therefore, it is essential to select high-quality wood panels.
Two. What should I do if the wood panels are infested with woodworms?
1、 First, clean the wooden boards infested with long-term pests. If they cannot be cleaned, place them in direct sunlight to dry. Thoroughly clean the boards with a disinfectant, and then ensure adequate ventilation and drying. For wooden boards infested with wood-boring insects or termites, you can apply a small amount of insecticide solution to the insect holes, or you can grind dried chili peppers or Sichuan peppercorns into a powder and stuff them into the insect holes.
2、For areas affected by insect infestation, apply wax oil and continue applying for 10 consecutive days. However, wax oil and insecticides should not be used on wood-based kitchen cabinets and other furniture items.
3. When wood panels are infested with pests, a solution can be prepared by mixing delthamethrin with water in a 1:5 ratio. Thoroughly spray the solution onto the wood panels, allowing it to penetrate the wood. Continuous spraying for 3-5 times is recommended, followed by an 8-hour drying period, which will effectively eliminate all pests. Subsequently, thoroughly wash and dry the wood panels with clean water.
4. For areas that have not been affected, apply coatings such as linseed oil, insect-repellent paint, or varnish to the surface of the wooden cabinet, effectively isolating the wood from the air and preventing further infestation. Note that when applying the coating, both the front and back surfaces, as well as the interior walls of the cabinet, should be coated evenly.
5. If the weather is clear, the termite-infested wooden boards can be placed in direct sunlight. Use a brush or cotton cloth dampened with diesel to coat the entire cabinet. Allow it to dry for two to three hours, then reapply, and repeat until the termites are dead in the holes. Finally, wash with laundry detergent solution and dry.
