One, Can particleboard be nailed?
Particleboard is not suitable for nailing due to its poor nail-holding capacity. Nailing particleboard can easily cause nails to loosen, leading to board deformation, movement, or even collapse and detachment, significantly impacting the service life of the board.
Two. How to join particleboard

1、Leveling and filling
The edges of the sheathing should be straight. This method has the advantages of simple processing and wide application. However, it is prone to unevenness due to difficulty in aligning the board surfaces.
2、Cutting and fitting
"Tongue and Groove assembly," also known as "Raised and Recessed Joint assembly," is a method that easily aligns tongue-and-groove edges on particleboard, preventing uneven surfaces. However, this method requires more complex processing.
3、 Toothed Assembly
Tooth-shaped interlocking, also known as finger-shaped interlocking, features two or more small tooth-like projections within the joint, a smooth assembly surface, and a small machining allowance. This allows for cost savings on plywood, but the manufacturing process is complex.
4、Mortise and tenon joint
Its principle is similar to that of mortise and tenon joints, offering a higher joining strength compared to traditional mortise and tenon joints; however, it requires high precision in locating the mortise and involves complex processing.
5、Angled joint construction
By converting the flat surface to a sloped surface, the bonding area can be increased, and the joint strength and material utilization rate can be improved, based on the flat surface.
6、Creating Uneven Surfaces
Simple and reliable, this method can conceal joint gaps in plywood even after they open, but it requires complex processing.
7、Round Joint Assembly
The joining surface of the round tenon joint is similar to that of a flush joint. Adding round tenons increases the joint strength and conserves materials. However, the precise positioning of the round tenons requires complex processing.
8、Install the specified strip
- Simple processing, high bonding strength, same wood consumption as solid wood, commonly uses the edge strips of plywood as splicing strips, which is a widely used splicing method.
9、Belt-based assembly
Cut and shape the strapping wood into dovetail-shaped wedges, then insert them into the corresponding slots. This method is typically used in conjunction with other joining techniques to prevent the edges of the particleboard from warping.
