One. How to repair leaks in solar panels.
1、Reasons for installation
Due to the lightweight nature of solar panels, the installation process should consider potential deformation of the panel surface caused by wind loads or other external forces, to prevent deformation of the sealing joints and cracks.
2、Selection of Sealant
Poor-quality or improperly selected sealant is one of the main causes of PC solar panel cracking and water leakage. Therefore, if the water leakage is caused by the sealant, we need to remove the old sealant and then use a qualified sealant to bond the solar panel.
II. How to prevent leaks in solar panels
1、Create the slope for the gutters.
First, create a drainage slope at the bottom of the eaves gutter. This involves creating a slope at the top between the two downspouts and a slope at the bottom where the downspout is located. There are several options for creating this slope: raising the support columns of the steel I-beam between the two downspouts, but this requires structural modifications and carries a high risk; using polyester foam to create the slope is difficult to control the slope standard; and using concrete to create the slope increases the load on the steel I-beam.
Therefore, use cement-asbestos or asbestos blocks to create the slope, applying a 15-20mm thick 1:25 cement-sand mortar on top. After the mortar layer has cured, waterproof material is laid on top. The highest point of the slope should be 150mm above the bottom of the trench, and strive to achieve a slope of 1.3% at the bottom.
2、Selection of Waterproof Materials
Installing a waterproof layer in the eaves gutter should not create open seams. Using sheet materials and adhesive, this method can easily lead to open seams and cracking. Considering the smooth surface and low friction of PC boards, as well as their tendency to expand and contract significantly, PC boards require neutral sealing materials, and the use of PVC sealing strips and gaskets is strictly prohibited.
Therefore, choose a single-component, environmentally friendly polyurethane waterproof coating that exhibits excellent resistance to weathering, oil, and fire, good acid and alkali resistance, strong adhesion, low shrinkage, high elongation, and good adaptability to high and low temperatures, and can be applied to damp substrates. Apply three coats, with a return fillet of 300mm.
3、Technical Requirements
Waterproofing workers must possess the required license to perform the work; polyurethane must be accompanied by a valid certificate upon entry. Before constructing the slope, first repair any leaks or damage with polyurethane sealant; when applying the waterproofing layer, pay attention to the small bevels that appear on the surface due to the pressing strip; apply the waterproofing layer along the trench walls, ensuring straight, neat, and aesthetically pleasing lines. To prevent the polyurethane layer applied to the trench walls from detaching and peeling, apply it in layers with a 10mm brush, forming an inner trapezoid shape; add a non-woven fabric waterproofing layer to the inlet of the drain.
