Ordinary fire-resistant boards fall under the B1 fire-resistant category. Applying fire-resistant coatings alone will not increase the fire resistance rating. This type of fire-resistant board possesses five key properties: flame retardancy, smoke suppression, corrosion resistance, insect resistance, and stability, making it highly practical.
The fire rating is B1, a non-combustible level. Inorganic fireproof boards have inherent A-level fire resistance. Additionally, the wood used in the fireproof boards is a non-combustible wood, as well as non-combustible phenolic plywood, non-combustible medium-density fiberboard, and non-combustible plywood, all of which refer to the fireproof boards.
2. Are fire-resistant boards required to be coated with fire-resistant paint?
Whether to apply fire-resistant paint to fire-resistant boards primarily depends on the fire protection design requirements.
If the fire resistance of the wood panel meets the requirements of fire protection design, there is no need to apply fire-resistant coatings. If it does not meet the requirements, fire-resistant coatings must be applied.
The primary function of fire-resistant materials is to resist fire. Fire-resistant coatings consist of several parts, including the base material, fire-resistant system, fillers, and additives. The base material can also be understood as the film-forming material for the fire-resistant coating. Generally, the film-forming material for water-based fire-resistant coatings is emulsion. Furthermore, the government encourages the use of water-based fire-resistant coatings. Currently, expandable fire-resistant coatings mainly use the P-N-C fire-resistant foaming system. Therefore, under the specified conditions, the selection of the film-forming agent is particularly important for the performance and application of the fire-resistant coating.
